Terms of Service

These terms apply whenever you use Experio — browsing, booking a private experience, claiming a seat in a group outing, hosting a member meetup, or listing an experience as a partner. By using the site you agree to them.

Who we are

Experio is a South African experience platform operating in Johannesburg, Midrand, Pretoria and surrounds. We create and deliver our own experiences, list experiences from vetted partners, and let members host their own small-group meetups.

You can reach us at hello@experio.co.za for anything relating to these terms.

The three ways to book

  • Private experiences — you book an experience delivered to your home, office or venue. You pay Experio the full price shown.
  • Group seats at venues — a venue or host opens a limited number of seats and you pay Experio for your seat. The date is only confirmed once the minimum number of seats is claimed.
  • Member meetups — another member proposes an outing. You pay Experio a joining fee per seat only. Everything you spend at the venue on the day is your own bill, paid directly to the venue.

Prices and payment

All prices are in South African Rand and include VAT where applicable. Prices marked 'pp' are per person.

Payments are processed by PayFast. We never see or store your card details. A booking is only secured once payment is confirmed — until then, your slot or seat may be taken by someone else.

For member meetups, the joining fee is what you pay Experio. The 'from' price shown for a venue is an estimate given by the host and is not guaranteed; the venue sets its own prices.

Confirmation and minimum numbers

Group seats and meetups need a minimum number of guests to go ahead. When the minimum is reached, everyone who has claimed a seat is confirmed for that date.

If an outing does not reach its minimum by the date, it is cancelled and every guest who paid a joining fee or seat price is refunded in full.

Cancellations and rescheduling

  • Private experiences: cancel or reschedule once for free 72 hours or more before your start time. Between 24 and 72 hours, 50% is refunded. Within 24 hours, or for a no-show, no refund applies.
  • Group seats: the same 72-hour window applies unless the listing says otherwise.
  • Member meetup joining fees are non-refundable if you cancel your own seat, because the seat is held out of a very small group. They are refunded in full if the outing itself is cancelled or never reaches its minimum.
  • If we, a partner or the weather makes an experience unsafe or impossible, you may reschedule or take a full refund.

Hosting a meetup

  • Hosting is free. Hosts receive no money through Experio and may not charge guests directly for a seat.
  • Hosts must describe the outing, venue and expected venue spend honestly, and must not list an outing they do not intend to attend.
  • Hosts are responsible for their own arrangements with the venue, including any booking they say they have made.
  • We may remove a meetup or a host account for misleading listings, unsafe behaviour, harassment, discrimination or repeated no-shows.

Meeting other people

Meetups bring people together who do not know each other. Experio does not vet or supervise members and is not present at these outings. Use your judgement, meet in public places, tell someone where you are going, and arrange your own transport.

You take part at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, Experio is not liable for the conduct of hosts, guests or venues at member meetups.

Partners and venues

Partner experiences are reviewed before they go live. Partners are independent businesses responsible for their own service, licensing, insurance and compliance. Where Experio collects payment for a partner, we deduct our agreed commission and pay out the balance after the experience.

Your conduct

  • Give accurate details when you book — we use them to reach you about the experience.
  • Treat hosts, guests, partners and staff with respect. Harassment, discrimination and abusive behaviour are not allowed.
  • Do not misuse the site, attempt to access other people's information, or scrape our content.

Reviews

Only guests with a paid seat on an outing that has already happened can review it, and only once. Reviews must be your honest experience and may be removed if they are abusive, false or contain someone else's personal details.

Liability

Where we deliver an experience ourselves, we take reasonable care to do it safely and as described. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act. Beyond those rights, and to the extent the law allows, our liability for any booking is limited to the amount you paid Experio for it.

You are responsible for the suitability of your own space, including safe electricity, water access and enough level ground for setup where a listing says so.

Changes and disputes

We may update these terms as Experio grows; the date above shows the current version and the terms that applied at the time of your booking are the ones that count for it.

These terms are governed by South African law. If something goes wrong, contact us first at hello@experio.co.za — most things are solved with a conversation.
